...Hence the appeal to Anna to accompany me on the dress-hunt, because she is sufficently brisk to tell the truth about whether or not something suits me, and after the department store outing she starts getting tough. "First things first", she says. "You need a proper bra and some invisible knickers. You've got to get the underpinnings right." So, just before my next lisaion with Anna in nearby Matches, I take myself to Bodas in Notting Hill to be measured for a new bra- and suddenly I have properly shaped bosoms for the first time in years (aided by some judicious underwiring). As a result, the subsequent shopping trip isn't nearly as bad as the last one because, along with the clever Bodas bra, I have purchased a pair of Magic Knickers that blend seamlessly with even the snuggest Diane von Furtenberg wrap dress...
